Books Are Man's Other Best Friend

Oh, thank you Lord for giving back our connection. Line wasn't disconnected due to late payment but limbo started due to series of brown-outs here in our area - this excuse said by PLDT. It took us almost 2 weeks of continuous follow-ups.  Now I understand that in some point (as most people think), Abraham Maslow had included the web/internet part of man's hierarchy of needs. 

However, I'd better thought of a good alternative this time rather than confined myself with negative thoughts. So while waiting,  I just invested my time reading old books. And I even read my son's children books. I just went back to the basic. Old-school reading still remains a delightful experience for me. 

Books are obviously man's best friend with no ability to bark but gives him the best company. ",)

Book: 8 Simple Secrets To Raising Entrepreneurs

I basically invest my time and money on books. Novels, self-help, financial and parenting are my kind of selections. Books are my best friends.  They are most helpful whenever I need a little push to sleep. One of my best possessions is the GoNegosyo: 8 Simple Secrets to Raising Entrepreneurs. I got it as a birthday gift from Dear Hubby. He really knows me. I would rather get food or a book as a gift.

Last Wednesday night before I left the house, my son was playing with his building blocks. Blocks were scattered all over the floor. I heard Dear Hubby always reminded him to fix up his toys or he'll step on them and might cause accident. Busy playing and at full attention on his toys, he didn't care to move or follow what his dad told him to do. Still, Dear Hubby kept on saying " Anak, mga laruan mo ayusin please..." as politely as ever. Dear Hubby's nature is always to speak diplomatically. He always believes that lahat ng tao (o bagay) ay nadadaan sa magandang usapan. He's not an Ilonggo, he's from Cavite actually. In this case, I didn't intervene (or I'll be late for work.). I just allowed Dear Hubby to do his way. 

When My Son Learns Most

Last week, I promised my son that I'll cook carbonara for him this weekend. Since it's payday, I set a budget for his request. But I had to bring him with me to the supermarket 'coz Dear Hubby wasn't available yesterday morning to look after him. Then I thought, it will also be a good opportunity for him to put into practice his lessons in kindergarten about reading, place value and greater than / less than. Before we left, I reminded him of our rule: no buying of toys since our primary purpose was just to buy groceries. Of course as a kid who's still into toys, " Ma, tingin lang po ng toys. Promise no buying." 

Baby Next

My girlfriend and I got the chance to chat online this morning. She's the one I mentioned who will have a baby next year. This will be her third baby. Her eldest is 7 years old and second is 5 years old. The third baby on the way is really unexpected. She thought that her 5yo was the last. She and her husband had difficulty conceiving (again). Thank God for this coming blessing. She then asked when will we our next. My son is already 5yo and pwedeng-pwede nga naman na masundan. She's right actually and I know for the fact that it is lonely to be an only child. 

Thank you Lord for our families.

Take down some notes

I found this meme hilarious. Guilty as I may seem, I am currently doing this whenever I fetch my son from school . Gone were the days when the parent or someone who was tasked to fetch the child in school will stay inside the classroom to take down notes. This usually  happens whenever the child was not able to take down notes because he was so excited to leave or just simple lazy that day. I remember back then when Nanay will fetch me in school and before we leave the classroom she’ll check my notebooks one by one so as to know if I did write or take down notes. And if I did not, she will ask permission from my teacher to copy the lessons of the day and even asked her how it was done especially in Math. Nanay is really one-of-a kind. Now with my son in kindergarten , it is very important to check their lessons for the day. My son’s penmanship itself is still a work in progress. Instead of me writing those what were on the board, I just simply take photos of them.

Baptismal Anniv

I believe all of us knows when our birthdays are. Either celebrate it pompously or simply, celebrations are part of our culture. But if asked, do you still know when were you baptized?

We never celebrated this in my home when I was little. But when I started to have a family of my own, we do celebrate it. Both Dear Hubby and I were baptized on December 30^th. This was when baptismal rites has been free of charge ( even today) because it's the city’s fiesta. We both hail from the same place by the way.  My sonny’s baptismal date was September 20^th. He was 3 months old  then.

Last month, we celebrated my son’s 5th baptismal anniversary. It was just a simple close family gathering.  He thought that it was his birthday again with carbonara, fried chicken and cake served. We were not able to invite guests but still some friends and his godparents who remembered sent their greetings. We attended the mass to start the day.  He was not given any material gift unlike during his birthdays.Good thing he did not look  for one.  We just blessed him with our prayers. As naive as ever, he just simply said “ Wow, love naman ako ni Papa God. Dalawa birthdays ko.”
