G.G.S.S.

I encountered a group of high school students on my way home from work. We were all seated very close to each other inside the jeepney that I heard their talkings. "G.G.S.S. talaga yang si XXX. Palpak naman.Kakainis!",said one of the girls. The others also commented on how they felt irritated with XXX. I was so clueless to what G.G.S.S meant. I felt that I was too old to know what was this new term then I texted Dear Hubby for help :)

G.G.S.S stands for GANDANG GANDA SA SARILI or GALING na GALING SA SARILI. Oh, now I know. There are a lot of people who act this way. Feel na feel. We can meet them in school, in the office, in the mall, anywhere. In the case of XXX, most probably she is just simply confident with herself. She feels good/smart that's why she projects it undeniably. However, maybe her classmates see her to be too arrogant. In forums I joined like parenthood and investing, there are also  some G.G.S.S. people. Sometimes they seem to be way over from being normal. They neither accept nor respect other people's ideas. Closed-minded. They too lack the meekness in behaviour. They forget that sometimes what works best for them may not work for others. It is true that we have the freedom to express our opinions on someone or something but never generalize. They feel they're the most intelligent creatures. People sometimes go overboard with their reactions and fail to assess the situation.

Instead of becoming a difficult person yourself, try to deal with the situation (since change of their attitude doesn't happen overnight). It is a matter of choice to handle the situation positivelyInstead of feeling pissed with those G.G.S.S,, listen to what they say. Assess their points and learn from them. Then don't forget to add a bucket of humility. True humility is staying teachable, regardless of how much you already know.

God bless everyone.

  1. Maybe they are just confident on what they know? It's okay naman just as long as they can back it up. Others are nag mamarunong lang. Just as long as they don't force their knowledge on everybody's throat and insist that their way is superior.

As they said, "walang basagan ng trip"

That's why too that Filipinos are not that aggressive when it comes to entrepreneurship coz when they become too aggressive with their dreams, other people plus say "Ai, ma papel" or "Ai, mukhang pera". Another kind of crab mentality, I guess.
