Walk The Talk

Last Friday morning on my way home,  I chanced upon talking to a friend. She is quite worried on what to wear for their Christmas party. Their company's theme for this year is anime. I told her that there are trendy shops where she can rent costumes. She may get a costume for as low as Php300 to thousands depending on the complexity of the design. Or if she's creative enough, she may just searched online tutorials on DIY costumes. Yet, she is more worried because their boss is asking their department to customize their costumes with their boss' friend mananahi. I told her that's a nice idea so they'll fit their costumes well. However, customizing with their boss' friend mananahi costs Php3,500. What Php3500????

Php3,500 for one time use. That's a very big amount I said. " Nahihiya kasi ako Ate sa boss namin. Discounted na raw un." I advised her that this early, advise their boss that she's not availing of the service. She'll just rent one. It's impractical to spend thousands just for a costume. Wala rin namang premyo for groupie lang. Hindi naman siguro siya mawawalan ng work if she tells her true feelings about the idea to their boss.
I also found out that their boss is working sideline as a financial advisor. Imagine, someone who helps and educate people to be financially smart, financially responsible would recommend such impractical spending.  I am not judging their boss but he should have acted to be their role model. I believe that their boss might have advised all of them to spend wisely their bonuses and 13th month pays. He might advise them to invest their earnings for their future.  Well, to be a loyal friend to his friend mananahi is not a good idea and will not even help the rest of his team.

A piece of advice for their boss, "do as you say you would do, be consistent with your words and actions". Cliche it may sound but still action speaks louder than words.
